2024 Ford Escape Engine, AWD, Interior – This year’s Ford Escape (2024) model is mostly unaltered. However, this year there is a slight improvement in the shape of three new exterior color options: Atlas Blue, Iced Blue, and Fight Blue. Consequently, the 2024 Ford Escape competes with vehicles like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson. In 2024, you may choose between the same two engines offered in the 2021 model-year Ford Escape. You can also get the Escape Hybrid and the Escape PHEV alongside the standard Escape. The S, SE, SEL, and Titanium are the four available 2024 Ford Escape trim levels. Prices range from $25,555 for the entry-level S model to $35,890 for the top-of-the-line Titanium model with all-wheel drive.
The 2024 Ford Escape is available with various gas-powered, hybrid, and PHEV trim levels and engines. The gasoline-powered Escape offers a choice between a turbocharged inline-3 and a turbocharged inline-4 engine. The former is the standard engine on the upper trim and is designed for a happy medium between fuel economy and performance. At the same time, the latter is a welcome upgrade over the three-cylinder unit found on the lower trims. The worst part of the 2024 Escape is the inside, which remains unchanged and is made of cheap materials. While the interior is roomy, the vehicle’s compact proportions prevent it from carrying a lot of stuff. A few sacrifices are necessary to make it a practical SUV for everyday use, but it also has a fun personality. This assessment will then focus on how the vehicle compares to others in the subcompact SUV class.
2024 Ford Escape Redesign
The highest trim levels of the curvy 2024 Ford Escape, beginning with the SE, retain the previous generation’s striking diamond mesh grille and chrome trim surrounding the grille and the windows. Because of its concave solid curves down the side, this SUV resembles the Mazda CX-5 in its broad hips. The 17-inch wheels and the automatic halogen projector headlights are staples. A set of 18-or 19-inch wheels, together with LED headlights and foglights, are available in the higher grades. On the SEL and higher trims, a motorized liftgate replaces the conventional manual one. The Ford Escape is a tiny SUV that fits into that market nicely because of its size. The overall dimensions are 180.5″ in length with a 106.7″ wheelbase. It has a height of 66 inches without the rack on top. The SUV can fit into a spot only 78.7 inches wide if the side mirrors are folded in. Despite its increased dimensions, the Model S’s starting weight is still very light, 3,298 pounds. With the larger 2.0-liter engine and AWD, the heaviest gas model tips the scales at 3,566 pounds, while the most severe plug-in hybrid tips at 3,870 pounds. The vehicle has a clearance of 7.4 inches.
The new Escape settles for a less-than-stellar selection of metallic, pearlescent, and iridescent body paints. Most customization choices, including the standard no-cost paint jobs, are available even on the entry-level S model. Examples of these are the colors Agate Black, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, Atlas Blue, and Iced Blue. The former is brand-new for 2024, whereas Velocity Blue, Desert Gold, Bronze Fire, and Antimatter Blue have been eliminated. If you don’t want the S model, you’ll have access to more color options, including Flight Blue (another new color), Star White ($595), and Rapid Red ($395).
Although the Escape’s interior is attractively designed and comfortable for front and back seat passengers, it is let down by some cheap plastic panels, such as the ones on the doors and the lower center console. The standard upholstery material is highly textured; upper trim levels receive either plausible faux-leather seating surfaces or genuine leather in the top-spec Titanium. The Escape, like its main competitor, the Chevrolet Equinox, has a large cargo area behind the rear seats, with enough room for up to eight bags. When the back seats of the Escape were folded down, we could fit 21 suitcases, but only 19 in the Equinox.
The Escape Titanium is the most connected and high-tech Escape, with a 10-speaker B&O Play music system, in-dash navigation, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, all of which can be accessed remotely through a smartphone app. However, higher trim levels (SE and above) receive a more prominent 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Ford’s newest Sync 3 infotainment interface and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. At the same time, the base S model only comes with a 4.2-inch radio display with an AM/FM radio. An optional head-up array can be popped up.
The Ford Escape had a comprehensive redesign for the 2020 model year, which included the addition of a hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model to the range; as a result, the engine options for the 2024 model year are unchanged from the previous generation. The 2024 Escape will be powered by the same 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-3 and inline-4 engines. Compared to the latter’s 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft, the former’s output is 181 hp and 190 lb-ft. Both engines are paired with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) or an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration and 8-speed automatic transmission. Titanium models come equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine and all-wheel drive.
The 2024 Escape will have the same quick acceleration as the current model year, taking less than eight seconds to reach 60 mph and less than sixteen seconds to complete the quarter mile. On the other hand, the turbo inline-4 could go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. Compared to the Escape, the Honda CR-V is the quickest SUV alternative Escape, reaching 60 miles per hour in 7.7 seconds. The Hyundai Tucson is the slowest of the bunch, with a 0-60 MPH pace of under nine seconds. In addition to its very European appearance, the Ford Escape rides like one. The riding quality and compliant handling of the 2023 model are carried over to the 2024 model. When stopping from 60 miles per hour to zero, the Escape only takes 128 feet, which is better than most of its competitors in the compact SUV class.
2024 Ford Escape Release Date and Price
The price of an Escape can vary widely due to its four available trim levels and the wide range of available engine choices, but it still represents good value for the money. Prices start at $25,555 for the base S variant with front-wheel drive (FWD) or $27,055 with all-wheel drive (AWD). The base price of a base model SE is $27,035, while the addition of the all-wheel industry will run you a further $1,500. The SEL is the next-to-the-top model, starting at $29,505 with the base engine. Adding a four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive will increase the price to $33,300. The Titanium’s standard mighty turbo-four-pot engine justifies its high asking price of $36,055. Ford’s $1,245 destination charge and applicable taxes and registration fees are not included in this pricing. The 2024 Ford Escape is scheduled to debut in the summer of that year in the United States.
