2024 Ford Expedition Max Platinum, Redesign, Price – When the fourth-generation Ford Expedition debuted last year, it was held back by some subpar cabin materials and antiquated technology. Ford certainly paid attention to the feedback because the Ford Expedition Max enters 2024 with a more stylish design, newer interior materials, and advanced technology. Ford’s redesigned Expedition Max is still a versatile cruiser thanks to its 380-horsepower twin-turbo V6, modern and spacious interior, and 9,000-pound towing capacity. There is a lot to enjoy about this SUV, even though it is pricey, clumsy to drive, and not very fuel efficient compared to rivals like the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade ESV. In the United States, the base price of the 2024 Ford Expedition Max is $58,685, making it a competitive full-size family SUV.
Ford updates the Expedition lineup for 2024 with a new look outside and inside, improved features and materials, and a slew of additional conveniences and customization choices. The new standard 12-inch infotainment touchscreen in base models and the much larger 15.5-inch infotainment touchscreen in upper-tier vehicles are also worth mentioning. Ford also has an additional option for the Limited Max called the Stealth Performance package, which includes a more powerful version of the twin-turbo V6 and a sport-tuned suspension, among other upgrades.
2024 Ford Expedition Max Redesign
As seen in previous spy photos, the front and back fascia of the testing vehicle for the 2024 Ford Expedition were substantially disguised. The new Timberline Edition is another option; it has been outfitted with off-road tires, Raptor-style underbody skid plates, and a taller ride height to improve its off-road performance. There is an expectation that the Timberland version’s exterior will look different from the rest, with a more rugged design and a different color scheme. We anticipate new wheel designs ranging in size from the existing 18 inches to the maximum 22 inches to go along with the refreshed appearance of the base trim level. Rapid Red, Mettalic tri-coat, and Iconic Silver will likely remain staple colors.
The 2024 Ford Expedition Max may look different outside, but its enormous size hasn’t changed. It is 11.9 inches longer than the standard Expedition, measuring 221.9 inches in length with a wheelbase of 131.6 inches. Its height is 76.2 inches when in 4×4 configuration and 76.4 inches when in 2×2 format. The Expedition measures 93.4 inches in width with the side view mirrors extended, narrowing to 83.6 inches with the mirrors folded in. The big SUV has an approach angle of 24 degrees, a breakover angle of 20, and a departure angle of 21, or 23.7, 20, and 21,3 degrees in 4×4 form, respectively. Both the 4×2 and 4×4 variants lose 0.9 inches of ground clearance.
Interior
The ordinary Expedition’s cabin has plenty of space for its passengers, and the more extended Expedition Max’s cabin is designed to provide even more, so all seven or eight will travel with complete ease. The standard model’s three rows of seats can accommodate eight passengers, while the limited’s standard captain’s chairs reduce that to seven. If you have the leather seats and panoramic roof, the upper trim levels of the Expedition feel very contemporary and elegant. A rare selling point for a three-row SUV is the comfort level, even in the third row.
The trunk of an Expedition Max can easily accommodate a whole baseball team’s equipment. The Expedition Max’s expanded body and wheelbase length allow for a massive 34.3 cubic feet of load space behind the third row of seats. The area can be increased to 73.3 cubic feet by folding down the third-row chairs, and it can be increased to a spacious 121.5 cubic feet by folding down the second-row seats. These enhancements are significant upgrades over the standard Expedition.
Engine
The Expedition Max is propelled by a mighty 380 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque from a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. With the Limited Stealth Performance Package installed and using 93 octane fuel, the high-output version of the machine can produce up to 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque on Limited vehicles. The V6 powers the Expedition Max’s rear-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains via a ten-speed automated transmission. The Expedition Max’s power and torque are abundant despite its massive dimensions and heavy curb weight. The engine and transmission work harmoniously to provide strong and smooth acceleration reactions regardless of speed. The Expedition Max can pull up to 9,000 pounds with heavy-duty trailer towing equipment.
It’s hardly surprising that the Expedition Max’s gas mileage is terrible, given that it’s a massive, heavy vehicle built to speed up with eight passengers on board and a lot of cargo in tow. Using the V6 and transmission to power the RWD system, the EPA forecasts that the Expedition Max will achieve 16/23/19 mpg in the city/highway/combined driving cycles. When you add the all-wheel-drive system, your mpg drops to 16/21/18 in the city/highway/combined. To put it simply, this is subpar to the standard Expedition. You can expect about 528 miles of range from a full gas tank in the Max when it is configured as a rear-wheel drive.
2024 Ford Expedition Max release date and price
Ford offers the XL trim for roughly $54,650 for fleets exclusively, while the XLT serves as the entry-level model for most consumers and has a starting MSRP of $58,685. The introductory price of a 2024 Ford Expedition Max Limited is $67,835, and adding the Stealth Performance Equipment group (which includes a high-output twin-turbo V6) would set you back another $9,540. The price for a King Ranch model is $78,355. The most expensive model, the Max Platinum, costs $80.805. There is an additional $3,050 fee for adding 4×4. Ford’s $1,795 destination charge and $645 purchase fee are not included in any listed prices. The 2024 Ford Expedition is scheduled to debut in the summer of that year in the United States.
