2024 Ford Fusion Changes, Specs, Release Date – In today’s electric-obsessed world, every automaker places a premium on providing hybrid options in their most lucrative market segments. The third-generation Ford Fusion will have two hybrid siblings, one standard and one plug-in, despite Ford’s plans to stop producing some sedans in the United States in favor of crossovers. We’ll focus on the former because it makes fewer concessions and is the more practical mixed-use partner overall. To make 188 horsepower, the Fusion Hybrid combines a 2.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. The front wheels receive most of the engine’s output via a CVT.

But we have never even tested the basic version. Because it takes advantage of touch inputs and voice commands, the Sync 3 system is intuitive. It’s a significant improvement above what Ford has done before.
However, while the HEV and the PHEV employ an onboard battery pack, the HEV’s trunk space is just 12 cubic feet, while the PHEV’s is 16. The most you could fit in there would be a few suitcases, briefcases, and small shopping bags, or a few large backpacks and duffel bags. Seats in the back can be folded in a 60/40 split and kept that way, providing extra storage and seating options. The strange battery arrangement, however, still leaves a considerable step near the trunk’s rear, limiting its usefulness for stowing various items. Both front and rear passengers control access to cupholders. All doors have standard, bottle-sized side pockets, the center console has a cubby, and the passenger door has a glove box about the size of a shoebox.
Engine
The Fusion Hybrid has a 2.0-liter inline-four Atkinson cycle engine that generates 141 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to an 88-kilowatt electric motor that boosts peak power to 188 horsepower. A continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT) is used to provide all of the ability to the front wheels, making the hybrid standard. Nine seconds is average for the class, but the Toyota Camry can reach 60 mph in just 7.5 seconds. The suggested retail price of the top-tier Fusion Hybrid Titanium variant is $34,595. Ford charges an extra $995 for the destination and an additional $645 for the acquisition fee.
