2024 Ford Mustang GT Redesign, Specs, Release Date

Posted on October 29, 2022

2024 Ford Mustang GT Redesign, Specs, Release Date – Late in 2022, Ford unveiled a brand-new muscle car powered by a V8 engine and paired with a conventional manual transmission. It’s important to savor this time because it won’t last forever. In the seventh-generation Ford Mustang lineup, the GT is again the top trim level above the EcoBoost base car. Lighting up the rear tires won’t be a problem thanks to the new electronic drift brake and 480 horsepower from the naturally aspirated Coyote V8. The new Mustang GT may be personalized with a wide variety of packages and specific options, and it features evolutionary aesthetics and a wholly rebuilt digital cockpit. It’s the ideal modernization of a classic brand, with its blend of retro styling and cutting-edge features.

After a brief hiatus, the Mustang will return in the summer of 2023 with its seventh iteration. Updates to the Mustang’s design were long overdue, and the new one provides them. Among the many updates to its design and powertrain, a new lineup of options for individuals with a severe demand for speed may be found. The Mustang Performance Pack is an upgrade for the GT and EcoBoost versions. The Performance Pack upgrades the vehicle with a strut tower brace up front, a Torsen limited-slip differential, wider rims and tires, bigger Brembo brakes, and a MagneRide active-damping suspension. For those who care only about performance, we offer Recaro bucket seats and a working exhaust as add-ons. Ford also provides a performance electronic parking brake for the Mustang that mimics the feel of a handbrake with a lever and is believed to facilitate drifting. A new track-ready Mustang Dark Horse with a more menacing 500 hp Coyote V-8 engine and access to Ford Performance’s streamlined and fierce equipment changes has also been released.

The Ford Mustang GT Coupe is more evolutionary than revolutionary in terms of its exterior design, despite its sharper edges and more aggressive accents. Ford aimed to pay homage to earlier Mustangs by modeling the upper grille after creating the first generation car from the 1960s. The GT has larger grille apertures compared to the standard EcoBoost model, which we assess separately, and the front fascia features sleek tri-bar LED headlights and a recognizable lighting signature. Changes to the front splitter and hood vents have been made.

To make bringing in and out of the vehicle while wearing a helmet easier, Ford has redesigned the roofline, resulting in a more extended rear deck. The rear haunches are more expansive, and the overhang is shorter. The standard wheel size for the new Ford Mustang GT Coupe is 18 inches, but 19 and 20-inch wheels are available as upgrades. A rear spoiler and quad exhaust pipes give the GT a more menacing profile than the EcoBoost.

Two of the eleven available paint jobs for the Ford Mustang GT Coupe are brand new this year: Vapor Blue and Yellow Splash. There are more steps in developing a signature style. With the Performance Pack, you could get bigger rear wheels and tires and Brembo brake calipers. The Bronze Design Series Appearance Package adds Sinister Bronze wheels with matching emblems.

The track-ready Mustang Dark Horse is available with optional features like Pirelli P Zero tires, brake cooling NACA ducts, and darker external pieces if you’d like your Coyote V8 wrapped in an even more aggressive shell. In this case, we’re going to do an independent review.

Interior

Ford claims the 2024 Mustang’s “fighter-jet inspired” interior was designed with the driver in mind. In the meantime, the Mustang’s standard 12.4-inch instrument cluster significantly improved over the previous car’s. Selectable colors, gauges, and a “calm” screen that exposes only the most essential facts make the display adaptable to the needs of most red, white, and blue patriots. The interior illumination and driver interface will change to suit your chosen Mode of operation. Cloth seats and optional microsuede vinyl inserts come standard in the base Mustang, while the Premium adds stitched door trim and a dashboard. Leather is used in the GT model of the Mustang. Ford’s Remote Rev feature lets you increase your vehicle’s engine RPMs from a distance using the key fob, so you can listen to the sweet sounds as you view the scenery.

The 2024 Mustang’s interior technology is one of its most notable upgrades. From the instrument cluster, a curving glass panel conceals an optional 13.2-inch infotainment screen running Ford’s Sync 4 software that flows toward the center of the vehicle. Each Mustang has Ford Power-Up software capability, allowing for over-the-air updates for eventual software and vehicle function improvements and Amazon Alexa voice commands, which can replace knob-turning or button-pressing. It comes with CarPlay and Android Auto pre-installed, and drivers can eliminate the clutter of charging cables by upgrading to the optional wireless smartphone charger.

Engine

Ford has upgraded the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine found in the Mustang GT Coupes. It was revealed at the ceremony that the GT would have at least 480 hp, up from the previous 450 hp. However, official specifications still need to be made available. The GT makes 420 lb-ft of torque as it is now, and the new version should be better than that.

A six-speed manual gearbox is still the norm to relieve purists everywhere, with an adaptive ten-speed automatic transmission available as an extra. There are a total of six other profiles available, in addition to Normal, Sport, Slippery, Drag, and Track. Slippery Mode will be a crucial safety feature when driving, with roughly 500 horsepower going to the rear wheels. The modern Mustang GT can accelerate from 0 – 60 mph in under 4.3 seconds when equipped with an automatic transmission or a little more than half a second when driven manually. It stands to reason that the new vehicle will be even swifter if it can maintain its traction before it reaches cruising velocity.

The 2024 Mustang GT’s manual transmission comes standard with a rev-matching feature that keeps the engine revving at the same rate as the clutch is engaged. This helps to reduce torque dropoff when shifting gears. In addition, the electronic drift brake attempts to imitate the performance of a traditional hand brake. The Coyote V8 can be revved remotely with the included key fob, so you can sit back and watch the crowd go wild.

You need the Performance Pack if you plan on going to the track occasionally. This includes installing bigger rear wheels and tires, a front tower brace, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and if desired, a MagneRide active suspension. Additional features include larger Brembo brakes in the front (15.3 inches) and the rear (13.9 inches). This package is designed for the GT and includes brake ducts and an additional oil cooler for the engine. When ordered this way, the GT will be the perfect muscle car for most people, with the right amount of power and good handling.

Ford has set the summer of 2023 as the debut season for the Mustang GT Coupe. Its release will coincide with the decline of the V8-powered Dodge Challenger and the possible demise of the other major competitor (the Chevrolet Camaro).

The current GT Fastback version of the Ford Mustang GT Coupe costs just over $38,000, making it one of the more reasonably priced ways to get behind the wheel of a V8-powered sports vehicle. We have yet to determine how much the new one will cost in the United States, but we anticipate it will be somewhere in the $40,000.

The base price of the Hemi V8-equipped Dodge Challenger R/T is a little under $40,000, while the base price of the V8-equipped Chevrolet Camaro LT1 is $36,100. By the time the 2024 Mustang GT Coupe comes out, it’s still being determined whether either of these competitors will still be around in their current forms.
