Ford used the same fundamental formula for the enjoyable and versatile F-150 Raptor truck. The top-tier Bronco comes equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 producing 418 horsepower, a unique long-travel suspension, massive 37-inch tires, and a host of additional off-road accessories. Exaggerated fender flares and a unique grille design with amber lighting features let the 2024 Bronco Raptor stand out from the crowd. Owners may make even more vehicle adjustments thanks to the wide variety of optional extras. While the Raptor’s price tag is far higher than that of a regular Bronco, performance junkies can’t get enough of the vehicle.
For the time being, just a four-door version of the Bronco Raptor is available, and it only comes in one trim level. Compared to the base price of the F-150 Raptor (about $67,000), the Bronco Raptor’s 37-inch tires are worth the extra money. Spend a minimum of $78,470 to have them installed on your vehicle. New 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor Redesign
Ford nailed the aesthetics of the new Bronco, and the Raptor version is just as impressive. The Bronco’s extra nine and a half inches of track width aren’t there for show, but they give the vehicle confidence and stability. Modifications made elsewhere are primarily functional, although the design is excellent. Flared fenders made from a bolt-on heat-molding compound, heat extraction ducts on the body sides, and a jutting bonnet all help to identify this vehicle as a Raptor. A set of tow hooks, detachable Rigid L.E.D. fog lamps and Rigid off-road lamps, end caps, and the ability to quickly and easily remove the running boards all come standard on the new modular front bumper, which also conceals the vehicle’s bar reinforced rock rails. The rubber is just as important as the shoes used by Usain Bolt or the boots worn by a mountain climber. 37-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires are wrapped around your choice of two 17×8.5 bead-lock capable wheels. Looking carefully, several interesting “Easter eggs” also pay tribute to the Bronco’s past.
The Bronco may be customized in infinite ways because of its wide variety of trimmings and paint schemes. The 2024 Ford Bronco’s sleek external design would be incomplete without a selection of fascinating colors, and fortunately, Ford has provided 11 excellent options. Shadow Black, Oxford White, Antimatter Blue, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, Velocity Blue, and Rapid Red are all available for the $295 basic model. Those colors are supplemented by Cactus Gray and Area 51 in the Big Bend package. You can have the fantastic Cyber Orange tri-coat on the Black Diamond trim for an extra $595, and Lightning Blue is one of the five possible colors on the First Edition.
The New 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor cabin is very similar to that of the Bronco, except for a few key details such as high-bolster front seats, a unique steering wheel with paddle shifters, and simple placement of the vehicle’s distinctive buttons. The vinyl used for the regular centers and other touchpoints is a nice touch that shows how much action was put into the design of the inside. Ford advertises it as marine-grade vinyl; however, marine vinyl is only concerned with weather resistance because it is rarely used on boats. Ford’s material designers had to make some adjustments so that the cars could withstand frequent handling and weather. A centrally positioned 12-inch touchscreen powers the Ford SYNC 4 infotainment system, and the Bronco Raptor-specific Performance View is shown on the all-digital 12-inch gauge cluster.
After spending more than 10 hours in them over two days (on the road and otherwise), we can attest that the new Raptor-specific seats are pleasant. We haven’t pushed around as much as we might have thought from looking at them so that the bolstering could be more forceful. Seating was where we had the most questions, though. A lack of ventilated chairs for desert travel was surprising. The dirt would become stuck in the perforations in the upholstery, and they could be cleaned as is, but this isn’t a mud-crawler. The inside was a nice spot to relax and enjoy the ride. A rearview mirror obstruction spoils excellent outward vision; a third brake light must be installed above the spare tire with the roof removed. Carpet flooring replaces the standard rubberized washout flooring. At the same time, other interior choices include laser-perforated Black Onyx Neo suede seats, a vinyl-wrapped instrument panel topper, leather-wrapped outer seat bolsters, and more. The B&O 10-speaker audio system is an excellent addition.
The New 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor is powered by the tried-and-true 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine with twin turbochargers, which has been fine-tuned for this S.U.V. to produce 418 horses and 448 lb-ft of torque. Power is managed via a 10-speed SelectShift gearbox that can be set to two-wheel-drive high, four-wheel-drive high, or four-wheel-drive low. The Bronco can not only pull 4,500 pounds comfortably but also drag its axle over rugged terrain or creep gently over significant obstacles. The Go Over Any Terrain (G.O.A.T.) modes are what most people care about. Out of the seven, the Bronco Raptor has one that no other vehicle has. When in Baja mode, the turbos are calibrated to reduce lag in the same way as the G.T. supercars are, allowing for more output at high speeds. Exhaust settings range from “Normal” to “Sport” to “Quiet” to “Baja,” and when you switch to Baja mode, the screen warns you that it is not intended for public roads. You might just as quickly name it the Maximum Volume setting.
We arranged to meet the following day in Johnson Valley, and I should emphasize that the area is no laughing matter. Especially during the warmer months. The cooling system would be put to the test by the searing heat, the suspension would be put to the test by the rock-strewn roads, the tires and all-wheel-drive system would be put to the test by the sand and silt, and our sphincters would be put to the test by certain downhill sections. Interestingly, that final part didn’t appear until much later, far after the challenging rock crawling, steep sand, rocky drop-offs, tight throttle control, and tire positioning. The Ford Performance Team went out and extensively field-tested the Bronco Raptor. The environment may expose even the most minor cracks and cause catastrophic failure. Ford was now placing the vehicles’ future in the hands of journalists with varying degrees of off-road experience. Warning: The following spoiler alert concerns that we all made it through the ordeal with minor injuries (to our pride) and without the need for the medical team that followed us.
