New 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid Models, Specs, Release Date

Posted on September 19, 2022

New 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid Models, Specs, Release Date – The Ford Escape Hybrid, along with the regular Escape that we examine, is a top-selling sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the United States. It provides what most buyers are looking for in a car right now: a roomy cabin and a tall, crossover body. Each of the two hybrid options, a standard hybrid and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), generates 200 horsepower from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Its acceleration from zero to sixty miles per hour is only adequate, but that’s not the purpose. It’s important to note that the PHEV is only offered with front-wheel drive. While both Escape Hybrid models get excellent fuel economy ratings, neither is fun to drive. The Toyota RAV4 Prime, a more expensive option, comfortably outperforms the Ford Escape. The Ford has many safety features and an easy-to-navigate infotainment system, but can it compete with the most thrilling SUVs on the market if you don’t require a hybrid? Let’s look at the Escape Hybrid to see what we can learn.

If you’re set on purchasing a Ford Escape and value low fuel costs, then the 2024 Escape Hybrid is a great option. It’s not the quickest, and competitors like the Honda CR-V Hybrid are more immediate, but it’s nimble in the city and gets excellent gas mileage (41 mpg combined). The PHEV model’s all-electric range is 37 miles, which should be more than enough for most commuters. The rest of the Escape is a competent but unremarkable SUV. It has plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, a large trunk, and a straightforward audio system, all of which we appreciate. Yet, there are a few cheap touches inside, and the ride quality is average. However, the Escape Hybrid does almost everything right to warrant big sales in the United States.

In 2024, Ford only adds a few new exterior color possibilities to the Escape’s palette, but the vehicle’s design remains unchanged. It has grown in length and width since the 2020 model year by 2.4 and 1.7 inches, respectively. The 2024 Escape will continue to feature the same sportier and fancier design that gives it its signature crossover appearance. The Escape’s broad grille, reminiscent of an Aston Martin’s, takes up much of the front fascia. While the headlights are mounted high on the hood, the foglights flank the front grille. Next, the back is simple. The taillights are round, the corners are rounded, and two exhaust outlets exist.

Atlas Blue Metallic, Flight Blue Metallic, and Iced Blue are some of the new exterior colors available for the 2018 Ford Escape Hybrid. Ford has also updated several of its features. New for 2018, the eight-way power driver’s seat is now included in the SE Convenience Package. It comes standard on the SEL, while the 10-way power driver’s seat is now included in the Titanium’s standard equipment and is optional on the SEL Technology Package. The panoramic vista roof is now available as a separate upgrade from the Titanium Elite Package. Also, the SecuriCode keypad with keyless entry is standard in all SEL grades and above.

Interior

Although the New 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid cabin is attractively designed and comfortable for front and back seat passengers, it is let down by several cheap plastic panels. Standard upholstery is a highly textured cotton, while upper trims get realistic faux leather or, in the case of the Titanium, genuine leather. Like its crosstown competitor, the Chevrolet Equinox, the Escape has a large cargo area behind the rear seats, with enough room for up to eight bags. When the back seats of the Escape were folded down, we could fit 21 suitcases, but only 19 in the Equinox.

The only form of entertainment in the base S model is a 4.2-inch radio display with AM/FM radio; however, the more extensive 8.0-inch touchscreen displays found in the SE and above trim levels come equipped with Ford’s newest Sync 3 infotainment interface and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. All Escape models include smartphone app-based remote car access and start. Still, the most connected and high-tech Escape is the Titanium, which comes standard with a 10-speaker B&O Play music system, in-dash navigation, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge display. An optional head-up array can be popped up.

Engine

The New 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid is propelled by a hybridized version of Ford’s 2.5-liter inline-4 engine, which can provide up to 200 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. It has a single electric motor capable of producing 96 kW and can be configured to send energy to either the front or all wheels through a CVT. Although efficiency is emphasized, performance is severely poor. From a stop to highway speeds and overtaking, acceleration is slow and steady. However, the hybrid drivetrain’s maximum towing capacity is only 1,500 pounds. Unlike regular automatics, the CVT’s simulated shifts are seamless and accurate. In a modest 9 seconds, you can go from 0-60 mph. The engine does get a little rough and noisy when revved to higher speeds.

The Ford Escape Hybrid achieves 44 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, which is exceptional for a hybrid SUV. For AWD versions, this rating drops to 43/37 mpg combined. With its 14.4 kilowatt-hours (kWh) lithium-ion battery pack, the Escape PHEV can travel 37 miles solely on electric power. The gas machine takes over when the battery is low or when more acceleration is needed. When in EV mode, the Escape PHEV achieves an EPA-estimated 105 MPGe in combined city/highway driving and 40 MPGe when in hybrid mode. The battery pack may be charged in as few as 3.5 hours with a 240-volt charger or 11 hours with a 120-volt household-style power outlet (Level 1). (Level 2).

New 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid Release Date and Price

Six distinct New 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV variants are available, with the base-level SE Hybrid priced at $29,920. The SEL Hybrid costs $32,285, while the Titanium Hybrid is priced at $34,830. The cheapest SE Plug-In Hybrid can be had for $35,190, the next-highest SEL Plug-In Hybrid for $37,925, and the most premium Titanium Plug-In Hybrid for $40,435; The $1,495 destination fee that Ford adds to its list price is not included here. The base price of a Honda CR-V Hybrid, another SUV in the same class, is $32,010. It goes without stating that you’ll have to pay more if you want a few extras on your Ford Escape Hybrid. All non-PHEV versions can be converted from FWD to 4WD for an additional $ 1,500. Another perk of PHEVs is that buyers can receive a federal tax credit of up to $6,843 if they file a federal tax return. The 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid is scheduled to debut in the summer of that year in the United States.
