New 2024 Ford Expedition Models, Changes, Specs – The 2024 Ford Expedition competes with other full-size SUVs, such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, the GMC Yukon, and the Nissan Armada. The Expedition’s pricing ranges from $55,000 (the starting point for the basic model) to over $81,200 (the highest trim level). Although there is just one engine option, not all packages are created equal. The base engine is a 3.5L Twin-Turbocharged V6 paired with a 10-Speed Automatic transmission, good for 380 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Expedition can go from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds with the help of this engine, and it can tow up to 9,300 pounds. The same engine provides even more power to the top-tier Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum models, generating 400 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The Timberline trim and the Stealth Performance Package increase those numbers to 440 hp and 480 lb-ft, respectively.
Cars with meaningful names, like the Ford Expedition, are much more appealing to us than those with random numerical or alphabetic designations. Simple and to the point. If you’re looking for an excursion vehicle, Ford has you covered. The traditional use of the word describes a group of people who go out to discover something. These journeys might be undertaken for various reasons, including discovery, exploration, or even warfare. You probably won’t be doing any of those things as a family, but we can expand the concept to include taking the kids to and from school, shopping, and camping. The new Timberline package is best suited for the third option. Ford is quick to point out that, compared to the new Jeep Wagoneer, the SUV has a higher ride height.
New 2024 Ford Expedition Redesign
Regarding the general outline of a full-size SUV, your options are limited. To make a full-size truck or SUV stand out, designers focus on grille, headlights, fenders, and taillights. Now with a new grille, taillights, and wheels, the latest Expedition has a more modern and exciting appearance. Ford puts most of its design emphasis on the front end and the alloys. The combination of the grille and the headlights creates a bold look. Even the most basic vehicles currently have LED reflector headlights as standard equipment. Ember Red tow hooks up front, steel skid plates, a Twin Spar Black grille, and Timberline badging make the 2017 Timberline stand out. A wide variety of wheel diameters are available, from little 18s to enormous 22s. A panoramic moonroof is standard equipment at the upper end of the price spectrum.
Forged Green Metallic, Agate Black Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic, and Oxford White are the four exterior hues available at no extra cost to buyers of the basic XL STX model. The XLT is the next stage up, and it comes in a wide variety of colors, including the metallic additions of Infinite Blue ($495), Dark Matter ($495), Star White ($795), Stone Blue ($495), and Rapid Red ($495). The Timberline’s color scheme is darker and moodier than the other two, with black exterior trim and orange highlights in place of Rapid Red and Iconic Silver. There are a few tweaks to the upper two tiers, but no new hues have been added. When the Stealth Package is added to Expeditions capable of receiving it, the vehicle takes on a sinister air with an ebony black grille, black headlight bezels, and a black tailgate appliqué.
Interior
The Platinum version of the Expedition has the most luxurious interior, featuring massaging front seats and lush leather upholstery. The third row of seats in either the standard Expedition or the extended-wheelbase Expedition Max is comfortable for adults, unlike many competitors. The middle row is always a bench with three seats, but you can choose two captain’s chairs instead. Space-wise, the Max has more built-in compartments than any other car we’ve tested. Controlling the power-folding third-row is a breeze from any model’s trunk or rear seats. The second and third rows may be tucked flat to create a flat loading surface.
The Expedition’s massive 12.0-inch touchscreen runs Ford’s Sync4 infotainment system as standard equipment. It has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and the capability to get software upgrades wirelessly. In addition to the 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound and the rear-seat entertainment system, there is also a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. The Expedition offers an optional 15.5-inch touchscreen mounted vertically if the standard 8-inch display isn’t enough; this screen size is also featured in the Mustang Mach-E, which runs on batteries.
Engine
Expect the 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 engine to return in the 2024 Ford Expedition. The base Expedition engine produces 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, while the optional V6 increases those figures to 400 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the rear wheels as standard and the front wheels and rear axle if 4WD is selected for an additional $2,050. The 3.5L PowerBoost V6 hybrid from the F-150, which produces 430 horsepower, has been mentioned as a possible engine choice. The Ford Expedition can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds (or 5.7 seconds if equipped with the Platinum trim), cover the quarter mile in 14.8 seconds, and reach a peak speed of 125 miles per hour. The towing capacity of the 2024 Expedition is 9,300 pounds. The Nissan Armada has the fastest acceleration (from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds) and the highest power (400 horsepower). The next one is the Ford Expedition, which has 375 horsepower. The Yukon and Tahoe, both from GM, have 355 horsepower, but the Expedition beats them in speed.
Heavy-duty trucks like this don’t do much to benefit the environment. The Expedition fails to live up to Ford’s boast that the EcoBoost engine (a twin-turbocharged V-6) is more fuel-efficient than a V-8. It gets 17 mpg in the metropolis and 23 mpg on the highway with a rear-wheel drivetrain, but with all-wheel drive, it drops to 22 mpg. New 2024 Ford Expedition Release Date and Price
The XL STX is the entry-level model at a suggested retail price of $52,620. The base price of an XLT model is $56,685, and the top-tier Limited model may be purchased for $65,835. The base price of a new Timberline with 4×4 is $69,695. The King Ranch has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $76,355; the Platinum Standard is slightly more expensive at $78,805. Not included is Ford’s $1,795 destination fee. The 2024 Ford Expedition is scheduled to debut in the summer of that year in the United States.
