New 2024 Ford Explorer Hybrid Platinum, AWD, Colors – In 2024, Ford unveiled a wholly redesigned Explorer, one of the most popular crossover SUVs in the United States. The hybrid version of the new Explorer was also available, and it will come back in 2021 with a few updates. Three hundred and eighteen horsepower and three hundred and twenty-two pound-feet of torque are generated by the Ford Explorer Hybrid’s coupled 3.3-liter V6 engine and electric motor. A 10-speed automatic transmits power to either the front or rear wheels. Ford’s eco-friendly SUV, the Hybrid, was previously only offered in Limited trim, but the company has since expanded the trim level offerings to include the Platinum trim level. The Ford Explorer Hybrid is a capable SUV, but it wasn’t built for serious off-roading. Its hybrid motor provides better gas mileage than the standard Explorer, but it isn’t the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class. The Kia Sorento Hybrid, which just came out, and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, which has been around for a long time, are two of the Explorer Hybrid’s main competitors.
Despite its position, the Ford Explorer Hybrid is a competent SUV. The storage space is spacious, the ride is comfortable, the handling is secure, and the engine is peppy. The dirt or sand path does not match it, and vice versa. However, Ford’s fuel economy ratings fall short compared to comparable hybrid SUVs. It also has a lousy interior with cheap plastics, hard-to-use controls for the entertainment system, and few seats in the second and third rows, which is especially bad considering how expensive it is to start.

2024 Ford Explorer Hybrid Redesign.
In 2024, Ford gave Explorer a significant update. That it continues to appear as stylish as ever goes without saying. Depending on the trim level, the grille features various finishes. Standard on higher models are LED headlights with DRLS and LED fog lights. Alloy wheels of multiple sizes, from 18 to 21 inches, are available. Ford designed the wheel wells to be more rounded as the car had rear-wheel drive. The Explorer has a respectable 7.9 inches of ground clearance, making it a suitable midsize SUV. When considered from the side, it is clear that Ford has elongated the body of the car, most noticeably behind the back window. There is nothing flashy about the car’s rear end. The black accents and ST-Line badges on the outside of the new ST-Line model set it apart from the rest of the lineup.
The Chevrolet Traverse is classified as a midsize SUV, yet it is significantly bigger than its competitors. In confined parking spaces, this may be an issue. Because of how low it sits to the ground, there won’t be any trouble getting in and out of the Honda Pilot. While the Explorer has a longer wheelbase, the Kia Telluride’s is shorter. Consequently, it occupies less external space, which contributes to its velocity. Several new exterior colors have been added, including Carbonized Gray, Infinite Blue, and Stone Gray. Other minor changes have also been made to the lineup, such as better interior finishes and a few new color options.

Interior
The Explorer’s cabin is valuable and pleasant, at least for the front two rows of seats, despite its somewhat uninspiring interior appearance. Standard third-row access is simplified by a device that, with the push of a button, slides the seat in the second row forward. Nonetheless, once back there, older children and adults will find their hearts too low for their comfort. Comparable competitors, such as the Chevrolet Traverse and Volkswagen Atlas, provide more spacious third-row seats. With the third row folded down, we could place four suitcases behind the second, and with two rows folded down, we could fit a total of 31 bags in the Ford.
Upgrade to one of the top-tier Explorer models to receive the vertically-oriented 10.1-inch screen. The infotainment system features an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and it comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Although the design is visually appealing and reasonably responsive, it lacks the intuitiveness we prefer. That’s when a rotatory controller comes in handy. Still, every model may be equipped with a rear-seat entertainment system and voice-activated navigation. All Explorers, except for the entry-level model, come with a B&O sound system with 12 speakers.

Engine
This vehicle has only a 3.3-liter V6 gas engine and an electric motor. Overall, they generate 318 hp. Standard equipment includes a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Limited and Platinum trim levels are now available for the 2024 Ford Explorer Hybrid. In both cases, a 3.3-liter gas engine is coupled with an electric hybrid system, resulting in 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission sends engine output to the rear or all four wheels, with AWD being standard on the Platinum trim level alone.
Almost all modern hybrid SUVs have improved gas mileage. For vehicles equipped with rear-wheel drive, this Hybrid achieves EPA-estimated city mpg ratings of 27 and highway mpg ratings of 28. mpg drops to 23 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with a four-wheel drive. In most situations, the Explorer Hybrid’s ride quality is excellent, but it can get jarring over rougher surfaces. It’s outstanding in its handling, with well-weighted steering and powerful brakes. The SUV almost qualifies as athletic, except it rolls around a bit when driven. All models arrive standard with rear-wheel drive and can be upgraded to four-wheel drive.
2024 Ford Explorer Hybrid Release Date and Price
The hybrid version of the Ford Explorer is offered in just two trim levels: Limited and Platinum. The RWD Ford Explorer Hybrid Limited has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $50,105 (not including tax, registration, or the destination charge of $1,245). The cost of 4WD is $2,000. The Platinum trim, at the shelter of the line, adds some excellent standard amenities but is only available in all-wheel-drive (AWD) style, and for that, you pay extra: this model costs $53,335 before options. The Ford Explorer Hybrid 2024 is expected to be released in the United States in the summer of 2024.
