New Ford Fusion Hybrid 2024 Specs, Dimensions, Release Date – In today’s world, every automaker places a premium on providing hybrid options in their most lucrative market segments. Their choice is two hybrid versions of the third-generation Ford Fusion—one regular and one plug-in—despite the automaker’s decision to phase out sedan production in the US in favor of crossovers. This piece focuses on the former because it offers fewer concessions and is the more practical mixed-use partner. The Fusion Hybrid gets its 188 horsepower from its 2.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline four-cylinder engine and electric motor. The Ford Fusion follows the standard template for a midsize sedan in terms of exterior design, featuring a long front overhang, four doors, and a short trunk. Aluminum wheels with a dazzling silver finish come standard on the SE and SEL, while the Titanium’s 18-inch alloy wheels have a similar premium finish. Only the SEL and higher trims have the signature LED headlights and illumination, but all boundaries have LED taillights. Single exhaust tips, body-color bumpers, and door handles are standard across the board, with chrome inserts added to the SEL and Titanium trim levels. The Titanium differentiates itself from the base model, which has a classic five-bar grille with a chrome mesh grille and a rear decklid spoiler.
The only differences between the gas and hybrid Fusions are their height and curb weight. Without the mirrors, there is no difference in size between the two models: 191.8 inches in length and 72.9 inches in width. The hybrid measures 58 inches; the gasoline standard is 0.2 inches taller at 59 inches. Its height and weight are the only distinctions between it and the GE gasoline variant. All hybrid models share a curb weight of 3,668 pounds, approximately 200 pounds more than the gasoline model’s curb weight of 3,472 pounds.

The Fusion’s available infotainment features range from distinctly millennial to thoroughly contemporary. We found Ford’s Sync 3 system, which is standard on some trims and optional on others, to be intuitive and responsive. However, we have never tried the base model. Because it takes advantage of touch inputs and voice commands, the Sync 3 system is intuitive. Compared to what Ford has done before, this is a vast improvement.
Despite sharing a battery pack with the plug-in hybrid Fusion (PHEV), the HEV’s trunk is significantly smaller at 12 cubic feet compared to the gasoline Fusion’s 16 cubic feet. There won’t be much room for more than a few suitcases, duffel bags, and maybe a briefcase and a small shopping bag. Seats in the back can be folded in a 60/40 split and kept that way, providing extra storage and seating options. However, the odd battery placement still limits storage flexibility with a massive step near the trunk’s rear. There are four total cupholders: two in front and two behind the seat. Engine
The 188 hp maximum output of the Fusion Hybrid results from a 2.0-liter inline-four Atkinson cycle engine (141 hp, 129 lb-ft of torque) and an 88 kW electric motor. The hybrid standard is a continuously variable automatic transmission that sends the entire output to the front wheels. It takes nine seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour, which is about average for the class but slower than the Toyota Camry’s 7.5-second time. The hybrid needs a lot of pressure on the accelerator pedal to get going, whether starting or trying to pass at high speed. Generally, the Fusion Hybrid’s low- to medium-speed operation is straightforward. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) also seems appropriately matched to the engine, being neither particularly remarkable nor particularly jarring. However, you should avoid taking long, high-speed trips on the interstate, as the power plant will suffer if you do.
