Next-Gen 2024 Ford Escape Specs, Changes, AWD

Posted on September 8, 2022

Next-Gen 2024 Ford Escape Specs, Changes, AWD – The Ford Escape 2024 is essentially the same as the 2023 model. Although this year’s lineup is unchanged, three new exterior color options—Atlas Blue, Iced Blue, and Fight Blue—are available. In 2024, you may choose between the same two motors as in the 2021 model-year Ford Escape. While the Escape comes in various hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms and the standard gas-powered Model, the Escape Hybrid and Escape, PHEV is also available. The S, SE, SEL, and Titanium are the four available 2024 Ford Escape trim levels. Prices range from $25,555 for the entry-level S model to $35,890 for the top-of-the-line Titanium model with all-wheel drive. The 2024 Ford Escape can now compete with vehicles like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson.

The 2024 Ford Escape is available with various gas-powered, hybrid, and PHEV trim levels and engines. The gasoline-powered Escape offers a choice between a turbocharged inline-3 and a turbocharged inline-4 engine. The former is the standard engine on the upper trim and is optimized for fuel economy and performance. At the same time, the latter is a significant upgrade over the three-cylinder unit in terms of both smoothness and power. There have lived no enhancements made to the interior of the 2024 Escape, and the use of cheap materials everywhere is a significant letdown. Although it has sufficient room inside, its limited dimensions prevent it from carrying much luggage. Despite certain drawbacks, it is the ideal SUV for daily use because of its comfortable ride and fun personality. We’ll discuss how it compares to the competition in our review.

The chrome that covers the grille and the top windows of the SE and higher remains on the svelte 2024 Ford Escape. Like the Mazda CX-5, this SUV has a broad hip thanks to the solid concave curves down the side. Both the 17-inch wheels and the automatic halogen projector headlights are standard equipment. The higher grades have 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and LED fog lights. As you push up in trim level, the manual liftgate is replaced by an electric one. The Ford Escape is a tiny SUV with a reasonable size. It’s 180.5 inches long and rides on a wheelbase of 106.7 inches. Without the rack on top, its height is a mere 66 inches. The SUV can fit into a spot only 78.7 inches wide if the side mirrors are folded in. While it has increased in length, the basic Model S still weighs 3,298 pounds. With the larger 2.0-liter engine and AWD, the heaviest gas model tips the scales at 3,566 pounds, while the most severe plug-in hybrid tips at 3,870 pounds. The vehicle has a clearance of 7.3 inches.

The New Escape settles for a less-than-stellar selection of body colors. All the regular, no-charge paint jobs are available for the base S Model, and the bulk of the other choices are also. This group includes the colors Agate Black, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, Atlas Blue, and Iced Blue. The first four have been replaced by new colors for 2024: Antimatter Blue, Bronze Fire, Desert Gold, and Velocity Blue. If you don’t want the S model, you’ll have access to more color options, including Flight Blue (another new color), Star White ($595), and Rapid Red ($395).

Interior

Although the Escape’s cabin is attractively designed and comfortable for front and back seat passengers, it is let down by several cheap plastic panels. Standard upholstery is a highly textured cotton, while upper trims get realistic faux leather or, in the case of the Titanium, genuine leather. The Escape, like its main competitor, the Chevrolet Equinox, has a large cargo area behind the rear seats, with enough room for up to eight bags. When the back seats of the Escape were folded down, we could fit 21 suitcases, but only 19 in the Equinox.

Unlike the base S Model, which only has a 4.2-inch radio display and an AM/FM radio for entertainment, the SE and above trims include an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Ford’s newest Sync 3 infotainment interface and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. All Escape models have smartphone app access to car telematics and remote start. Still, the Titanium model is the most interconnected and high-tech Escape with its standard 10-speaker B&O Play music system, in-dash navigation, and 12.3-inch digital gauge display. An optional head-up array can be popped up.

Engine

Because a hybrid and PHEV version was added to the lineup for the 2020 model year, there are no automatic updates for the 2024 Ford Escape. As a result, the 2024 Escape will continue to use the same 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-3 and inline-4 engines. Compared to the latter’s 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft, the former’s output is 181 hp and 190 lb-ft. Both powertrains have a basic front-wheel-drive (FWD) transmission and an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. On the other hand, the Titanium grade comes standard with an all-wheel-drive system and a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine.

The 2024 Escape will have the same quick acceleration as the current model year, taking less than eight seconds to reach 60 mph and less than sixteen seconds to complete the quarter mile. Although it would take the turbo inline-4 6.3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, In terms of competition, the Honda CR-V and the Ford Escape are tied for quickest SUV thanks to both vehicles’ 7.7-second sprints from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Conversely, the Hyundai Tucson has the slowest 0-60 MPH time of the bunch at under 9 seconds. Not only does the Ford Escape have a very European appearance, but it also rides like one. A comfortable ride and easygoing handling are carried over to the 2024 Ford Escape. Under emergency braking conditions, the Escape’s already impressive braking performance allows it to stop from 60 to 0 mph in only 128 feet, making it faster to a stop than the vast majority of similarly sized SUV competitors.

Next-Gen 2024 Ford Escape Release Date and Price

The Escape’s price tag may vary significantly due to its four trim levels and several engine choices. The base price for the FWD-only S variant is $25,555, while the AWD-only version is $27,055. The base price of a regular SE is $27,035, but adding an all-wheel drive will cost you an additional $1,500. The SEL is the next-to-the-top Model and starts at $29,505 with the base engine. Adding the optional four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive will increase the price to $33,300. The Titanium has a strong turbo four-cylinder engine as standard equipment, so it can charge a high fee of $36,055. Ford’s mandatory $1,245 destination charge and state and local taxes are not included in this pricing. The Ford Escape is set to debut in the United States in the summer of 2023.
