The New Ford F150 2024 Specs, Colors, Release Date

Posted on August 29, 2022

The New Ford F150 2024 Specs, Colors, Release Date – In most people’s minds, the 2024 Ford F-150 is the quintessential pickup truck. The modern version of the perennial best-seller features an aluminum body, turbocharged powertrains, a hybrid option, an all-electric spinoff (reviewed separately), and Ford’s cutting-edge technology. If you’re looking for a work truck, the base XL model has everything you need and nothing you don’t; as you move up the trim levels, you’ll find more and more luxury amenities and higher prices. The adventurous Tremor model caters to those seeking a more rugged off-road experience, while the Platinum and Limited versions provide luxury on par with the Lincoln MKT. However, the F-150 is still highly capable, highly configurable, and fiercely competitive, despite its less-than-stellar ride quality compared to the Ram 1500 and its less-than-sharp handling compared to the Chevy Silverado. To put it another way, it’s successful enough to merit the devotion of its customers, who have kept it at the top of the sales charts year after year.

Ford’s F-150 range now includes the off-road-focused Rattler variant for 2024. The Rattler is based on the XL FX4. Still, it features several upgrades over the base model, including 18-inch wheels, a dual-exhaust system, hill-descent control, a locking rear differential, and an off-road suspension system. The Rattler is in between the more expensive Tremor and Raptor models. It is more affordable for people who want an F-150 but need more off-road capability than the standard model.

The New Ford F150 2024 Redesign

The 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R, which will compete with the Ram 1500 TRX, is expected to improve the truck’s visual appeal, but its debut is still a ways off. For the 2024 model year, the Ford F-150 will look identical to the 2021 version. There is a choice between a 6.5-foot bed or an 8-foot one on the outside, and the grille and bumpers are both black. There are also halogen headlights, daytime running lights, and 17-inch silver steel wheels. The length and wheelbase of a regular cab Ford F-150 increase by 7 inches and 3 inches to 227.7 and 141.5 inches and 3 inches, respectively, when paired with an 8-foot bed. The GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are both 5 feet shorter than the Ford F-150 in the overall length department, but their 8-foot beds make them nearly identical in overall length. The Ford F-150 tops the list with 8.7 inches of ground clearance.

Race Red, Stone Gray, Velocity Blue, Agate Black, Iconic Silver, Antimatter Blue, Carbonized Gray, and Oxford White are the eight available colors for the base XL Regular Cab. These hues do not incur any additional fees. Lead Foot and Space White are other color options for the XL SuperCab, but they require other equipment that drives up the price by $2,560. The Rapid Guard and Rapid Red are also available on the XLT, with the latter costing an extra $395. Here, you can pick a secondary hue, though doing so would once again necessitate more advanced hardware. Ford’s online configurator allows you to experiment with the various options available to you to arrive at the perfect F-150. Smoked Quartz ($510) and Star White ($595) are two of the six colors available on the Limited top trim, which otherwise offers a broader range of options. On the King Ranch, for example, you can choose to have the upper body be Kodiak Brown and the lower body is Stone Gray.

Interior

Especially in the F-150’s top-tier King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims, the interior matches the opulent Ram 1500. Top-notch components are used throughout, and there are numerous cubbies for your belongings. Those who use their F-150 as a mobile office will appreciate the added conveniences. In a vehicle equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission, for instance, the shift lever and center console can be folded flat to make way for extra workspace. The F-150 also offers optional sleeping quarters in front seats that fold flat. The four-door crew cab is the roomiest and most accommodating for larger families due to its large number of doors. The F-150 has a bed in the rear. You can use the vehicle’s optional onboard generator to put up to 7.2 kW of power on a construction site or at a tailgate party.

Ford’s base infotainment display is 8.0 inches in size and runs the latest iteration of the company’s Sync 4 software, while a bigger 12.0-inch screen is available as an upgrade. The Ram 1500 also has a display of the same size and orientation at a vertical 12.0 inches, while the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra have a bigger 13.4-inch screen as an option. The new Sync 4 software allows for remote upgrades, navigation with real-time traffic and weather updates, and onboard telemetry, allowing fleet clients to keep tabs on vehicle whereabouts and usage. Wi-Fi connectivity, CarPlay, and Android Auto are all standard features, while navigation, SiriusXM, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system are available as upgrades.

Engine

A 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V-6, a 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8, a 325-horsepower twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6, a 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6, and a 250-horsepower 3.0-liter diesel V-6 are all available for the 2024 F-150. The F-150’s 10-speed automatic transmission is standard regardless of engine selection. The maximum weight that can be towed by a vehicle with the standard 3.3-liter V-6 engine is 8,200 pounds, while cars with the optional 3.5-liter, 400-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 can tow up to 14,000 pounds. The maximum towing capability is limited to 13,000 pounds when equipped with the tried-and-true 5.0-liter V-8; this number rises to 12,100 pounds when using the diesel V-6, and it stays at 12,700 pounds when using the hybrid version. The cargo hold may hold anything from 1,840 pounds to 3,250 pounds. These numbers put the 2019 F-150 on par with major competitors like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, and Ram 1500 in terms of towing and payload.

The EPA claims the F-150 can get up to 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway when equipped with the turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6. Depending on driving conditions, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 may get up to 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the interstate. The hybrid variant’s mixed city/highway fuel economy is projected to be 25/26. The Tremor model equipped with the twin-turbo 3.5-liter engine averaged 19 mpg on our highway fuel-economy route, which was part of our rigorous testing procedure. The F-150 hybrid’s real-world mpg will be evaluated after we have it up and running. Check the EPA’s webpage for specifics on the F-150’s gas mileage.
